After Boulder Tire does your seasonal tire changeover, we’ll evaluate the tires we removed to see if they’re worth keeping for another season. If they are, we will prep them for storage. Colorado Tire Storage will transport them to their safe and secure facility and keep them protected from weather, dirt, and dust until the next tire season.

When it’s time to swap your tires again, simply call Boulder Tire to make your appointment, and we’ll arrange for Colorado Tire Storage to bring your tires back to us in time for your swap.
 

What You Need to Know to Store Your Tires

  • The cost is $25/monthly.
  • This price is for storing a set of up to 4 tires (including wheels) and includes a one-time pickup and delivery.
  • Storage is for the current season, up to 7 months, and a minimum of 6 months.
  • Tires must be delivered and retrieved from Colorado Tire Storage within the 7-month time frame.
  • Your tire pick-up must be from Boulder Tire to qualify for this special discounted price.

Schedule an appointment: Call Boulder Tire and make an appointment for your seasonal tire swap. If we're putting on tires you stored at CTS, we need 24-48 hour notice to ask them to deliver the tires to us in time for your appointment (We should remember, but we'd appreciate a reminder that your tires are stored with CTS).
 
We evaluate your tires: After we remove your tires, we'll tell you whether they're worth storing for the next season. If they are, go to step 3.
 
Sign up while you are at Boulder Tire: Use the second button at the bottom of this page to sign up for storage. You must order and pay for storage before you leave your tires with us.
 
Next Seasonal Changeover: Go back to step 1 when you are ready for your next seasonal tire changeover.
 
Note: You can only sign up for one season at a time. That makes sense since you want the tire evaluation before you sign up.

When to Switch Seasonal Tires

Why and When Do I Need to Change My Tires for the Season?

Fall/winter tire change: Winter swaps: Oct 1st – Nov 30th (1 business day notice). Typical Winter Season: October 1 – April 30. Snow tires (also known as "winter tires") are an integral part of vehicle safety when you live in a snowy, icy, or frigid climate. They improve your grip on the road. Without them, many of your car's safety features (like anti-lock brakes, all-wheel drive, and traction control) may be less effective.
 
The best time to put on winter tires is usually October 1 – December 15. But it’s better to do it late than not at all, especially in Colorado where we often get heavy snows in March and April.
 
Spring/summer tire change: Spring swaps: April 1st – May 31st (1 business day notice). Typical Summer Season: May 1 – September 30. Your snow tires won’t last as long if you drive on them in the summer. The special materials used to make tires work well in the winter wear out quickly when the roads are hotter. They start to break down, leading to poor cornering and grip. Put on your summer tires for better performance--and save money in the long run by preserving your winter tires!
 
The best time to put on summer tires is usually generally April 1 – May 31. It depends in part on where you drive. If you live in the mountains or do a lot of spring skiing you may want to swap your tires later than people in east Boulder County will. Again, it’s better to do it late than not at all.
