Finally, you took the plunge. After researching, comparing, and test driving multiple options you settled on the perfect new vehicle. The excitement has barely worn off, the interior still smells like plastic, you haven’t even made your first payment... and the car won’t start! How can a new car not start? Don’t panic, some pretty simple repairs can fix a new car that won't start.
A dead battery is the most common reason a new vehicle won’t start. Depending on how long your vehicle sat in the lot, it is completely possible that the battery was accidentally drained or exposed to cold temperatures for too long. Thankfully, battery replacement is an easy and inexpensive fix. If the battery is the issue you will notice your vehicle attempting to turn over and you might hear a little click. This means there is not enough power to crank the engine and you need a new battery.
Issues could also involve the spark plug. It isn't common for a new car to have spark plug issues, but its definitely the next step I would take in finding the problem. It is possible a plug has become detached or is faulty from the assembly line. If you notice your vehicle losing power and lurching to a stop you might have an issue with your spark plugs.
If you go to start your new vehicle and absolutely nothing happens, no noise, no hope that it is actually going to start, then you might have ignition issues. This type of issue is hard to address and will often require a professional at the dealer or your auto repair shop to diagnosis.
